Skin Cancer Cure

Is There a True “Cure” For Skin Cancer?

Many have speculated over the years as to whether or not a skin cancer cure actually exists. If the only thing that can be done to skin cancer is to treat it, in the hopes that it does not return, can it really be said that there is a cure? To this day, there remains a serious debate on the subject of skin cancer treatment. If the skin cancer is removed with the use of a liquid nitrogen blast, has it been cured? If the skin cancer is cut out of one's body with a knife, is that a cure? There are people who will argue both sides of the issue, and a definitive answer has yet to be found. But, these methods are the ones in use, and even if they are not cures, in the strictest sense of the word, they are the methods currently available, and therefore stand as the best defense against skin cancer.

It is important to remember that there is no such thing as a skin cancer cure, in the same way that there are cures for many other illnesses. Because cancer is, in the purest sense, your body's own cells, there is no antibiotic that can eradicate it. This means that the only "cure" for skin cancer is the manual removal of infected areas. The only way to eradicate a body's cancer is to surgically remove it, cut it out with a cauterizing knife or blast it away with a cold spray such as liquid nitrogen.

Sadly, none of the current skin cancer removal techniques can honestly be called a cure. Liquid nitrogen, while often effective, cannot always penetrate deep enough to kill all of the infected cells. This means that the cancer may reemerge. This is also true with surgery. There is no guarantee that an operation will remove all of the infected cells, and if a cell or two is left behind, the cancer will come back again. No treatment is 100% foolproof. None of them can claim to remove 100% of the cancer 100% of the time -- thus they remain "skin cancer treatments" and not "skin cancer cures". But, keep in mind, all of the current treatments rely on highly effective techniques, and are the best option for those suffering from skin cancer, even though there is always the chance that the cancer may return. -Article by Adam Hefner
